Energy is a word that gets used everywhere now, yet its true meaning reaches far beyond how tired or awake you feel. When I talk about energy, I’m talking about the subtle, invisible field you carry with you, the inner state that shapes how you move through the world and how others experience you, often without anyone realising it.
We all read energy far more naturally than we think we do. You’ve probably noticed a moment when someone walked into a room and you felt an instant shift, even before they spoke. Maybe you’ve sensed when someone is low, or picked up on a heaviness in their presence, or felt the contagious buzz of someone who is genuinely excited. Children do this effortlessly; adults simply forget that we have the same ability to feel what sits beneath the surface of another person’s mood.
The truth is that whatever is happening inside your mind and body becomes part of the energy you’re broadcasting. You don’t have to say a word. People feel the tone of your internal world whether it’s calm, overwhelmed, joyful, anxious, grounded, or scattered. Your energy speaks before you do.
And children, especially, read this with astonishing clarity. They don’t respond to the words you use as much as the energy behind them. A toddler can sense tension in a room before they understand what tension is. They feel when you’re stressed even if you’re smiling. They relax when your energy is grounded, not because you’re doing anything “right,” but because your nervous system becomes a safe place for their own to settle. Your energy becomes the environment they grow inside of, and the more attuned you are to your own inner world, the more naturally they feel held, understood, and secure.
When I talk about self-care in sessions, I’m not referring only to baths, skin routines, or time alone (although those can help). I’m really asking you what supports your energetic balance. What helps you stay connected to yourself? What brings you back into alignment when life feels chaotic or heavy? We all have days where everything flows naturally, and others where we feel stuck, flat, or overwhelmed and that is part of being human. The important thing isn’t avoiding the low days, but knowing what helps you move through them with awareness rather than judgment.
It’s completely okay to have moments where your vibration dips. It’s okay to feel less motivated, less bright, or less social. There is nothing “wrong” about those states, they are simply invitations to pause, check in, and notice what your energy needs. The real magic lies in understanding the things that help you return to yourself again: the practices, moments, or environments that gently guide you back into flow.
For some people it’s movement; for others it’s a quiet walk, a grounding breath, a conversation with someone who feels safe, a nourishing meal, or time in nature. It may be as simple as creating space to be honest with yourself about how you’re truly feeling. When you know your own energetic language, you no longer wait for things outside of you to bring you back because you know how to lead yourself there.
Your energy is your foundation. When it’s tended to, everything in your life works more smoothly. You make clearer decisions. You hold better boundaries. You show up in relationships with more presence and compassion. Your creativity returns. Your intuition strengthens. And instead of pouring from an empty cup, you overflow naturally, without exhaustion or resentment.
So let this be your reminder: tending to your energy isn’t indulgent, it is essential. You are the one who feels the impact of your energy the most, and when you nurture it, everyone around you benefits too.
